5 Steps to Well Being was a fun and interactive project that’s aim was to improve Avonmouth’s level of community involvement in the village. This brief was part of my Professional Practice Module at UWE, which was initially titled ‘How can Graphic Design Improve your Life?’. We were then instructed to identify a problem in our determined areas and provide a solution to that problem using graphic communication.
After a meeting with the manager of the building and various visits to and from the area, I was inspired to design a series of patterned footsteps that would encapsulate the Five Ways to Well Being, a set of evidence-based actions which promote people’s wellbeing developed by the New Economics Foundation. These are Learn, Connect, Give, Be Active and Be Vocal. Each pattern’s aim has been designed with an action in mind.
